FAQ

Shipping and Orders

I entered the wrong shipping address, what do I do?

Tell us. Quickly. If your order hasn't shipped yet, we'll fix the address before it goes out. Once it's been dispatched, we can't redirect it.

See our shipping policy for the full address-change rules.

How long does shipping take?

Australia: 2 to 10 business days.
International: 2 to 6 weeks. Some countries take longer because, well, geography.

These are estimates. Postal services and customs do what they want.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is shown in your local currency at checkout. Rough USD reference:

Australia: ~$4 USD for a tracked sticker letter, ~$7 USD for a tracked parcel.
United States: ~$14.30 USD with duties paid at checkout.
Rest of the world: ~$13 USD flat to the countries we ship to.

Where is my order?

Every order has tracking. You'll get the link once your parcel leaves us. Check that first, it usually knows more than we do.

Australian orders: Australia Post can help if tracking gets weird.

International orders: once your parcel lands in your country, your local postal service (USPS, Royal Mail, etc.) takes over from there.

Still missing past the expected delivery window? Email us and we'll dig in.

Do you offer tracking?

Yes. Every order. You'll get the details once your parcel ships.

Why hasn't my tracking updated?

Tracking has its own rhythm. It's normal for it to go quiet for a bit, especially right after dispatch or while a parcel is moving between locations.

International parcels often go silent while crossing borders, then start updating again once they reach your local postal service. Patience is annoying but it's usually the answer.

Do you ship worldwide?

Not quite worldwide, but a fair chunk of it. Australia plus the US, UK, most of Western Europe, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, and New Zealand. The full list shows up at checkout, or have a look at our shipping policy.

If your country isn't there, drop us a line and we'll see what we can do.

International tracking and delivery

We send everything international via Australia Post. Once your parcel reaches your country, your local postal service handles the last leg.

Do I need to pay customs or import fees?

US orders: good news, we collect any applicable tariffs at checkout and ship your order with duties paid. Nothing extra owing when it arrives.

EU orders (heads up for July 2026): from 1 July 2026, the EU is rolling out a new €3 per-item customs duty on parcels under €150 entering the EU. This is an EU-wide rule, not something we can waive. If you order from the EU after that date, expect this charge to apply on arrival or at checkout depending on how the rule is rolled out. We'll update this answer once it's clearer.

Everywhere else: customs and import duties are set by your local customs authority, not by us, so we can't predict whether you'll be charged or how much. If they do apply, the fees are paid by you on arrival.

Why is my order taking longer than expected?

Could be postal backlog, customs poking around, or seasonal chaos. If you're still inside the estimated window, it's almost certainly still moving, just slowly.

Product and Quality

What is pin grading?

All my pins are handmade. Standards are the cleanest of the batch. Seconds came out of the run with something wrong: a fill spot in the wrong place, plating that skipped a strip, a post glued slightly off, something like that. The range is wide.

For the full breakdown - how Standards differ from Seconds, what kinds of flaws show up, what won't ever get sold, and the return policy on Seconds - see the Pin Grading Scale.

What does "Seconds" mean and how do they work?

Seconds are B-grade pins (or needle minders), sold at a discount. You won't know which specific flaw your Seconds has - I don't pick them by flaw. You're paying less in exchange for that uncertainty.

If a Seconds version of a product exists in the shop, it's because we've had at least one B-grade unit from that production run. If it's out of stock or not listed, we don't have any right now.

Full grading scale at the Pin Grading Scale page.

Tattoos and Artwork

Can I get a tattoo of your artwork?

Yes. If you love a piece enough to wear it forever, that's about the best compliment we can imagine.

Tattoos are fine for personal use. Please don't sell the artwork on or pass it off as your own. And once it's healed, send us a photo at info@thegrumpyunicorn.co. We genuinely want to see it.

Returns and Refunds

What if my order is lost or arrives damaged?

That's the worst. Email us and we'll sort it out. If it arrived damaged, send clear photos so we can see what we're dealing with.

See our refund policy for the full claims process and timeframes.

Do you accept returns or refunds?

Not for change of mind, sorry. Pins are small and personal and we can't restock them. If something is actually wrong with your order, contact us. We want to fix it.

Full details in our refund policy.

How does the return process work?

Email us at info@thegrumpyunicorn.co with your order number and what's wrong. Attach clear photos if anything arrived damaged, faulty, or missing.

We'll reply within a couple of days with the next steps, which depend on what happened. Refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within a week of approval.

Pricing and Currency

What currency are prices in?

Your local currency, wherever you are. AU customers see AUD, US customers see USD, UK customers see GBP, and so on. The price you see is the price you pay, charged in your currency.

Behind the scenes our pricing is anchored in USD and we handle the conversion using current FX rates, so you don't have to do mental maths and there are no surprises at checkout.

Do you charge in Australian dollars?

If you're in Australia, yes. Prices show in AUD and your card is charged in AUD. We ship from Australia, so AU customers buy in their home currency with no FX in the loop.

If you're outside Australia, you'll see and be charged in your local currency, not AUD.

Loyalty (Horns)

What are Horns?

One membership that does it all. Join Horns and you earn 10 Horns for every $1 you spend, then redeem them for money off later. Joining lands a 500-Horn welcome bonus straight away, plus another 500 every year on the anniversary of your first order. No app to install. Members get the occasional email too, drops and restocks, because Horns is one thing, not two.

Full breakdown of earn rates, Golden tier, and the Vault on the Horns page.

How do I join Horns?

Use the popup when you visit, or the form in the footer, or the Join box on the Horns page. That's the whole thing, one signup. It makes you a Horns member, which is the rewards and the emails both, and lands your 500-Horn welcome bonus.

How do I redeem Horns?

200 horns = $1 off. Minimum redemption is 500 horns ($2.50 off). Apply at checkout. Your balance shows in your account when you're logged in, and in the site header.

How do I log in to see or spend my Horns?

Sign in to your account using the same email you joined with. Shopify emails you a six-digit code, you paste it back, and you're in. Your balance shows in your account, in the site header, and on the Horns page. The 10% welcome code from the welcome email doesn't need any of that. Paste it straight into checkout.

Do Horns expire?

No. They sit there until you spend them.

Can I stack Horns with a discount code?

Yes, in most cases.

I ordered without joining. Do I still get the Horns?

No. Horns are a members' thing. An order placed before you join earns nothing. Join first (one signup, takes a second) and every order after that earns 10 Horns per $1, starting with a 500-Horn welcome bonus. So it pays to join before you buy.

My horns balance is zero. What gives?

Your 500 welcome Horns land within a few minutes of joining Horns. Horns earned on an order land within a minute or two of payment. If you have joined and it has been more than an hour with a zero balance, email us and we'll sort it.

I ordered from your Shopify shop before Horns existed. Can I get points for those?

Yes, on request. We launched Horns in May 2026, so anything before that wasn't tracked automatically. Email us with the order number and the email you bought under, and we'll backfill the horns into your account.

I bought from your Etsy shop. Do I get Horns for those orders?

No. Horns is a Shopify-only program and doesn't track Etsy purchases, past or future. Etsy and Shopify are separate platforms and don't share order data.

If you want to start earning, join Horns here. That makes you a member, lands 500 welcome Horns, and you earn 10 per $1 on every order you place through this site.

What happens to my Horns if I return something?

Horns earned on the returned order get deducted. If you redeemed horns to get money off that order, those go back into your balance automatically when the refund is processed. Fair's fair, both ways.

Some are. A few posts in our AirSkull archive link to books and products on Amazon and elsewhere, and some of those are affiliate links. If you buy through one we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you.
